Based in Perth,
Western Australia, Advanced Braking Technology Ltd (ABT) is
dedicated to the development of innovative braking systems. The
company’s key asset is the Sealed Integrated Braking System (SIBS®),
a comprehensively patented Australian invention.
SIBS®
utilises wet friction, with the moving and non-moving brake parts
immersed in a specially-formulated fluid which dissipates heat and
reduces wear through lubrication. As a result, the brakes exhibit
very low wear with minimum maintenance in many cases, the brakes usually
outlast the vehicles they are fitted to, unlike conventional drum
and disc brakes.
SIBS®
brakes deliver unparalleled safety, improved productivity and
lower operating costs, and are engineered to survive the world’s
harshest conditions.
The proven
technology is also environmentally friendly, eliminating brake
dust emissions and noise and squealing, provides a wide-range of
benefits for on-road, off-road and industrial applications in
terms of safety, reliability, performance and adaptability.
ABT’s cornerstone
product is the SIBS®
brake for light commercial vehicles used in the mining sector. Its
product portfolio includes SIBS®
brakes for the Toyota Landcruiser, Toyota Hilux, Mitsubishi Canter
and the Isuzu NPS300, plus several special purpose brake designs.
It is collaborating with various industry sectors to adapt
SIBS® for trucks,
conveyors, industrial brakes and other applications requiring
safer braking systems.
ABT also provides
braking solutions on a fee-for-service basis to customers
requiring one-off or limited volume applications. Under these
programs, ABT’s engineering team is contracted to deliver custom
braking solutions. A SIBS®
system was recently delivered to an international original
equipment vehicle manufacturer under a technology demonstration
agreement.
A fail-safe brake
for application on concrete agitator trucks used in underground
mines has been completed. This project was
funded by a consortium of mining and mining service customers.
ABT’s
manufacturing plant is located in Thailand. It has worldwide
patents on its technology. |
